Description
An Egyptian limestone fragment from the eighteenth dynasty (1550-1292 BC), depicting the lower half of a seated figure on a throne carved with heiroglyphs.
The fragment was acquired by Count von Rosen, a prolific author, explorer and friend of Howard Carter during the 1920s, and were exhibited at Rockelstad at that time.
Count Eric von Rosen (1879–1948) was a Swedish explorer, ethnographer, and collector known for his deep fascination with ancient cultures. At his family estate, Rockelstad Castle, he assembled an impressive collection of Egyptian antiquities gathered during his travels in the early 20th century. His collection reflects the era’s spirit of exploration and the aristocratic passion for history, art, and discovery.
